Improve Community Facilities in East Chesterton

    DSCN0409

It is now over two years since the Lib Dems promised to put in new facilities on Pye’s Pitch, by the new Riverside Bridge. So far there is no sign of the 2 football pitches, cricket pitch and changing rooms. Margery Abbott is demanding to know why nothing has been done and when these badly needed local facilities will be put in.

Our area has now lost 3 pubs in recent years. Labour is fighting for better protection for these vital community facilities in the planning process.

Why have the Lib Dems taken away £27,000 of funding for community More

County Councillor Tariq Sadiq, Labour Group Leader, is launching ‘Puddle-Watch’ to persuade the County Council to repair roads, pavements and drains across Cambridgeshire.

He recently got the County Council to fix a long-running problem in Radegund Road in his Coleridge ward where some residents had suffered years of having to wade through pools of water outside their homes because the drainage was completely inadequate. He also recently had some road junctions repaired on Cherry Hinton Road after a wheelchair user had contacted him about getting stuck on uneven junctions.

    Fen Road Meeting - Update

Thank you to all the people who attended the meeting on Fen Road at Shirley School. The frustration of years of inaction was very clear. We will keep the pressure on the Lib Dem City Council and Conservative Cambridgeshire County Council to deliver on the priorities from the meeting:

    - Second access road for Fen Road out to Milton Road

    - Immediate Steps to improve safety

We also pushed the police to prioritise Anti-social driving on Fen Road.

Pressure from Councillor Gerri Bird has woken the City Council up to the concerns and at last we are seeing some More

Speeding traffic in streets like Fen Road have been the Number 1 concern for residents in the area.

Councillor Gerri Bird is organising a petition calling for changes to the Traffic Calming on Fen Road and for CCTV cameras. Currently the speed bumps are being avoided by driving down the middle of the road or mounting the pavement.
